AUDIO FOR MUSICIANS
This free-form course will give students an in-depth look at studio recording either as a whole, or looking at specific topics of the student’s choice. Topics can range from signal flow, patchbays, compression, reverb, drum miking, vocal recording, analog or digital mixing, Pro Tools overview, microphone techniques, and more. This class can be done week-to-week, as a single session, or as extended learning with our other classes.
Cost: $125 per hour
In this course, students will learn the basics of live sound signal flow, setting up a small PA system, microphone theory, audio effects, and ultimately have a better understanding of what they can do to sound their best on stage. This 4 hour course is a combination of lecture and hands-on lab.
Cost: $500
This course is intended to teach students the basics of studio recording, from a performance perspective. Students will learn studio etiquette, terminology, and how to get the most out of their studio time. Topics covered will include performing to a click track, microphone techniques, studio effects, overdubbing, mixing, and mastering. This 4-week course is a combination of lecture and hands-on lab.
Cost: $500
This course can be taken as an individual or as a band. Students will learn how to choose an in-ear monitor and how to use both a hardwired and wireless version. Emphasis will be on using monitors safely and how to integrate them into a live performance situation. This will be a hands-on and ears-on course where students will get to use in-ears and get familiar with techniques and technology. This is an 8 hour class with a mixture of lecture/discussion and performance using in-ears. Students who complete this course will be given a $50 credit towards any Sensaphonics custom in-ear monitor purchased through Mystery Street.
Cost: $600, $150 for each additional band member (max class size of 5)
AUDIO ENGINEERING CLASSES
This free-form course will give students an in-depth look at studio recording either as a whole, or looking at specific topics of the student’s choice. Topics can range from signal flow, patchbays, compression, reverb, drum miking, vocal recording, analog or digital mixing, Pro Tools overview, microphone techniques, and more. This class can be done week-to-week, as a single session, or as an extension of our other classes.
Cost: $125 per hour
This hands-on course will take a student through each step in the recording process. Starting with a mock-up meeting with a performer to a final mastered product. Topics will include client relations, studio etiquette, organizing the session, tracking, overdubbing, editing, mixing, post-mix, and mastering. This is a 16 hour class.
Cost: $2000
This overview course is a hands-on, private audio course designed for the recording hobbyist, curious musician, or prospective audio engineer. This class will give students a foundational understanding of audio signal flow, microphones, outboard effects, and both digital and analog mixing. The goal of this class is to help students understand “the big picture” when it comes to recording and audio production.
This is an 8 hour class with a 4 hour hands-on recording lab with a live performer (12 hours total).
Cost: $1500
This is a private lesson in in-ear monitor technology for audio engineers. A basic understanding of live sound engineering is a prerequisite. This class will cover differences in in-ear monitors, wireless transmitter/receiver systems, and an overview of mixing boards. Emphasis will be placed on providing quality, safe sound for musicians. This is a two-day seminar which includes 4 hours of lecture/discussion and 4 hours of gear set-up and mixing with a live musicians. Students who complete this course will be given a $50 credit towards any Sensaphonics custom in-ear monitor.
